Assistant Archaeological Geophysicist

On site (nationwide) and working from home

Salary range €38,000-43,000 (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time (37.5 hour week mon-fri). Permanent position (pending suitability and 6 month probationary period).

Target Archaeological Geophysics Ltd. wishes to appoint a suitably qualified & highly motivated individual to the role of assistant archaeological geophysicist.

Target is a small, highly experienced provider of archaeological geophysical survey services to commercial and private clients, operating nationwide throughout Ireland since 2005, and is keen to hear from like-minded individuals with an interest in archaeological geophysics.

Role

Undertaking of archaeological geophysical surveys, operating as part of a small highly experienced team, using magnetometer/EM instrumentation, GPS etc.

Responsibilities

Geophysical data collection, data processing & interpretation

Preparation of AutoCAD/GIS drawings/maps

Report writing

Preparation of detection license applications, method statements & Health & Safety documentation/RAMS

Land liaison

Client liaison

Qualifications & expertise

BA or Masters in archaeology, geophysics or surveying (GNSS, topographic/total station survey)

Minimum 5 years fieldwork expertise in archaeology, geophysics or surveying (GNSS, topographic survey)

Requirements

Proven technical proficiency/skills sufficient for undertaking geophysical survey and reporting

Experience in use of GIS and/or AutoCAD

Report writing ability

Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office etc)

Will to learn, develop and participate in a small professional business delivering quality services to clients nationwide

Highly motivated

Excellent time keeping

Good organisational skills

Excellent communication skills

Proven ability to work independently and as part of a small team

The successful candidate must be prepared to work in all weather conditions

Full drivers license, and willingness to travel

The successful candidate will, from time to time, be required to stay away from home in order to complete fieldwork on sites located nationwide. However, fieldwork will, in most cases, be scheduled to allow as near as possible equal time working from home to complete office-based work.
